October 2026 in South Jersey: Fall Events, Things to Do & Home Tips

3 min read

October might be one of my favorite months in South Jersey. The weather finally cools down, the towns start looking extra cute for fall, and there is something happening almost every weekend.

If you live in Audubon, Haddon Township, Collingswood, Haddonfield or anywhere nearby, here are a few local events to add to your October calendar, plus some simple things homeowners should be doing around the house this month.

Things to Do Around South Jersey This October

Collingswood Book Festival

Saturday, October 3 | 10 AM to 4 PM

Downtown Collingswood will host the 24th Annual Collingswood Book Festival with authors, books, activities and plenty happening along Haddon Avenue. It is always a fun excuse to spend the day walking around town, grabbing lunch and supporting local businesses.

Haddonfield Fall Festival

Saturday, October 3 | 10 AM to 4 PM

Head into Downtown Haddonfield for a full fall day with more than 45 vendors, pumpkin painting, face painting, balloon artists and other family-friendly activities.

Haddon Township Fall Fresh Market

Thursday, October 8 | 4 PM to 8 PM

Haddon Square will be filled with local food, seasonal drinks, fall decor, produce and local vendors for the October Harvest Market. This is an easy weeknight outing, especially if you want to shop small and grab dinner while you are there.

Haddon Township Music Festival

Saturday, October 17 | 1 PM to 9 PM

The 11th Annual Haddon Township Music Festival takes over Haddon Avenue with live music and activity throughout the downtown area. It is one of those events that really shows off why people love living along the Haddon Avenue corridor.

Haunted Haddon Market

October 23 & 24 | 5 PM to 9 PM

If you are ready for Halloween, this one is for you. Haddon Township's Haunted Haddon Market will feature local makers, spooky vendors, live music, fire pits, s'mores, a photo booth and family-friendly activities.

Brews & Boos Crawl-O-Ween

Saturday, October 24 | 2 PM to 10 PM

For the adults, Haddon Township's Brews & Boos Crawl-O-Ween includes food and drink specials at participating local spots, costumes and free jitney service between locations.

Westmont Lions Halloween Parade

Thursday, October 29 | 7:30 PM

The annual Westmont Halloween Parade returns to Haddon Avenue with costumes, floats and plenty of Halloween fun.

Halloween in Audubon

Audubon always gets into the Halloween spirit, and the borough's annual Halloween House Decorating Contest is scheduled for late October. If you live in town, it is one of my favorite times to drive around and see what everyone has come up with.

October Home Maintenance Checklist

Fall is also the perfect time to knock out a few things around the house before colder South Jersey weather arrives.

  • Clean gutters and downspouts

  • Schedule your furnace tune-up

  • Replace HVAC filters

  • Check doors and windows for drafts

  • Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses

  • Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors

  • Inspect your roof before winter

  • Clean up leaves around your property

Audubon homeowners should also keep an eye on the borough's fall leaf collection information as the season gets underway.

Fall in South Jersey

One of the things I love most about living and working in this area is how much each town has its own personality.

You can spend Saturday morning at an event in Haddonfield, grab dinner in Collingswood, head to a festival in Haddon Township and still be home in Audubon a few minutes later.

That community feel is also a huge part of what draws buyers to towns like Audubon, Collingswood, Haddon Township, Haddonfield, Oaklyn and Barrington. People are not just buying a house. They are choosing the neighborhood, the schools, the restaurants, the events and the lifestyle that comes with it.

If you are thinking about buying or selling a home in South Jersey, or you are simply trying to learn more about the area, Life on the Ave is my resource hub for local events, neighborhood guides, buyer and seller resources and everything happening around our communities.
